Education

Fort Hays State University is where I graduated, magna cum laude, and attained my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and Masters of Science in Special Education. During my studies, I was also awarded the Certificate of Excellence from Educational Testing Services, the company that designs the tests teachers have to successfully pass to receive their license, based on my performance on the assessment teacher licensure test, Principles of Learning and Teaching. This means that I scored within the top 15% of all previous candidates who have taken the licensure exam. Just recently, I received my endorsement for gifted and talented education. It is my belief that everyone should be a lifelong learner and I look forward to doing my part to instill that same love of learning and the strategies that help to facilitate effective learning within your child.

Experience

For the past 14 years, I have been an educator. The majority of my time as a teacher has been spent instructing studnets in grades kindergarten-6th grade. Currently, I head my school's Young Scholars/Gifted & Talented Program for grades kindergarten-8th, teach world history to 6th graders, and assist with managing student affairs for the elementary and middle schools. I am also a professor for a local community college. Under my tutelage, I am proud to share, that my students have achieved scores as high as 80% on their state standardized assessments in the ares of writing, reading, and social studies. On a few occasions, my students have scored higher than the state average and as much as 40 points higher than the county average. Under my academic coaching, students have brought back awards on several occasions from regional competitions. This, hopefully, gives you confidence in my ability to help lead your child to proficiency. Of course, everyone must do their part so I need your suppport and I need your child to come to school prepared to do their part, academically and behaviorally, to the best of their abilities. Please see the table below to see further evidence of how my students have far exceeded the county average and have come within range of the state average.

Bio

Hello everyone, I am a native of the Lowcountry. Some of my favorite activities include traveling internationally, dining on delicious food whether prepared at a home or at a restaurant, learning and exploring various cultures, watching movies, and observing the fascinating world of nature. Social studies, by far, is my favorite subject because it is the study of people and people, for better or worse, intrigue me. You can expect to learn a lot more about me and I look forward to learning a lot more about you.
