I am a graduate of Bethlehem Teachers' College where I obtain a Diploma in Elementary Education in the year 2000.In 2005, I attended the Northern Caribbean University  where I was on the Dean's List and attained a scholarship for outstanding performance and a Bachelor of Arts in Education with an Emphasis on Reading/Literacy in 2007. In 2012, I attended the Central Connecticut State University, there I graduated with honors  and a Master's Degree in Reading and Language Arts.

Also I am a certified childcare teacher from the Florida Department of Education where I earned the 40 hours childcare certification.

I have had a total of 16 years teaching experience at the Elementary Level.I have taught in Jamaica, the Bahamas, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.This is my fourth year teaching at Royal Live Oaks Academy Charter School of the Arts and Sciences.

Yonna Porter is  a very hardworking, committed, challenging ,inspiring, innovative and caring teacher who hails fron the beautiful Island of Jamaica.She is  a lover of sports and dogs.Her teaching experience began in the year 2000, where she  taught Mathematics and Physical Education to 7th, 8th and 9th graders.This helped to prepare her for what was to come in the teaching profession. Yonna has received certificate of recognition from Barnes & Noble in Fayetteville North Carolina for being a a dedicated and hardworking teacher.She has helped Dunbar Center in Florida to regain accreditation in Childcare and has obtain level 5 EVAAS state testing score here at Royal Live Oaks Academy Charter School of the Arts and Sciences.

Her goal is to always make her classroom  a home away from home where  students feels loved, safe and where learning will be her students  first priority.
